Lusting

Lust - a very strong (sexual) desire. In my case, my lust list does not happen to bring any sexual desire to the table, more like a strong attraction. I've been pinning away these past few weeks and here are my top lusts for the week of 3/1/15
This Asos romper is so beautiful. I love the greenery and reflected pattern. Very springy
Karlie Kloss seems to be everywhere these past few weeks due to the number of fashion weeks going on around the world. Along with being a glamorous
model, she also has a line of healthy cookies and  Here is the recipe! If you are poorly trained in the art of baking, you can buy them here!
Faux Fur throws bring a certain elegance to any space in an instant! The comfort level is also an added bonus.

As the months (slowly) get warmer, you may seem to think you should store all your sweaters away for next years blizzards. Think again. J. Crew's new boyfriend feather light cashmere pullover seems to keep you cozy but, without the drenching sweat that comes along with cashmere! The shades it comes in are stunning, too!

Balance with healthy eating

Ugh, I know what you're thinking. Yet another post to trying to guilt you into putting down that donut and replacing it with fruit. But, be surprised that that is not at all what this post is about! This post is about balance. Eat that donut! Maybe don't eat one with every meal but, if you do decide to "treat yo self" do not feel guilty like you have fallen off of the cleanse mindset. This whole healthy eating trend can be toxic and trigger women to feel badly about themselves if they do indulge or even worse, trigger orthorexia. The key to all things healthy is balance! Eat the donut, drink water afterwords. Skip a day of working out, have a healthier option for dinner than per usual. Keep yourself happy by doing little things for yourself is the key to being healthy. Below I have posted some of my favorite healthy "indulgences" if it is time to balance and not so much  Cheesecake Factory double chocolate truffle cheesecake time.
Energy bites
No, these are not turds. These are my favorite little treats to have as a running out the door snack or just after dinner! Here is a link to my favorite recipe as well!
Smoothie bowls
A new alternative way to drink your smoothie if it's too thick, smoothie bowls are the perfect treat if you're ever in the mood for ice cream but don't want to feel weighed down by the creams and sugars.  Here is a link to a delicious chocolate hazelnut smoothie bowl. It tastes just like Nutella! 😋
Sweet Potato Burger
For burger lovers and vegetarians alike, sweet potatoe burgers are a delicious alternative to fatty, heavy meat patty burgers. My favorite recipe is the one from Minimalist Baker!

There you have it! My 3 healthy alternatives to keep balance in check.

March Playlist

So, where have a I been? Basically this week has been my busiest of 2015 and sometimes life's gotta happen before blogging about it does. I had my sectional meet for swimming this weekend and then I qualified for the district meet, so that took up a lot of time with preparing. Then I went to a party downtown with a bunch of friends, just to kind of celebrate being done with everything swimming and this year has thrown at me so far. On top of these events I had a TON of tests and homework. So a simple post of my March playlist is all I have for you today but, I promise to have more detailed and interesting posts coming up! This is a mix of some old favorites and new music, I   hope you love it!

Relaxation

More than anyone, I know that after a stressful week with school and friends and sports, all you want to do is nothing. Just take a break and watch Netflix and have no responsibilities. Relaxing can be difficult, though. You may check social media constantly, or on and off text a friend during your "you" time. So below, I have posted what I consider The Do's and Dont's of the art of relaxation.

Do lie down in a comfortable spot when relaxing. Don't just plop down anywhere! Next thing you know, it's been 2 hours and you were too lazy/distracted to move from your upright position on the fancy family chairs

Don't keep your clothes on from after school or when you went out. Nothing is worse than sitting down in skinny jeans, nothing. Put on some comfy pajamas, or a big sweatshirt and boxer. Anything, really, that you feel cozy in.
Do have special comfort food in the house. My treat to have when I'm getting ready for a Netflix marathon is Talenti gelato, caramel cookie crunch flavor. When you're all warm in bed, nothing is better than the chill of your favorite ice cream.

Don't keep your phone on you! The last thing you want is the sound of iPhone notifications going off, rapid fire while you're relaxing in the tub. Put it on "Do not disturb" setting and play your favorite pandora station.
Do have a Netflix marathon. Because there's never a better time to have one than when you're in bed eating comfort food dressed in pjs! Right now, my guilty pleasure is Scandal.
Heres a collage of what I typically would wear/eat/watch when being a lazy bones!

New York, New York

Ahh, New York. So unique it cannot be compared to any other city. Looking at posts from NYFW has made me crave the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, the soho shopping, and the trendiness of Chelsea. My favorite city I have visited so far, I could get lost for hours roaming the streets and neighborhoods. It's beloved by many because there is something for everyone! Especially the weather. You may like sunny and hot, cold and brisk, springy and warm, New York has it all. The amount of weather changes are wild, no matter the season. So when visiting, it can be tricky to pack for. Below, I have posted my essential basics to bring to New York to prepare for any weather in the fall, spring, and summer.
1. Tank top: Always easy to dress up with skirts, or down with jeans
2. Jeans: For when the sunlight is blocked by the tall skyscrapers and it's a little chillier
3. Sunglasses: Why wouldn't you pack this essential?
4. Pearls: A forever staple
5. Striped Long Sleeve: Because you have to bring your stripes ;)
6. Cheetah flats: The print adds interest to your relatively blandly colored palate packed.
7. Anorak: For when the temps drop or the wind blows a little stronger
8. Ballet Flats: Classic
9. Tshirt: Like the tank top, it is very versatile and can be dressed up or down
10. Cross body: Its always annoying to have a heavy bag hanging from your wrist when you're walking around all day, so a cross body helps to take the weight off
11. Dress: When you want to go out at night, a basic dress is always stylish
12. Shorts: Summer can be brutal. Classic jean shorts with a little bit of ripping is a classic choice to beat the heat without beating the style
13. Skirt: If it's too humid for shorts, a skirt is a great option! Also, can be worn at night, on the town
14. Sneakers: Of course your feet will get tired from walking, so be prepared with comfy walking shoes. Supergas are my sneaker of choice
15. Cardigan: When its too chilly for bare shoulders but too hot for a jacket, cardigans are the perfect in between!
These are my everywhere basics, especially when going to New York. I hope you keep these in mind the next time you're packing!

Weekend Re-Cap

I'm still new to the whole blog thing but, I'm hoping I can post on Thursdays, Friday's, and Monday's! Let me know if you like my idea of "weekend recap"

 •//Friday//•
Friday's are, and forever will be, the most relaxing day of my week. I usually get home around 5 because I have sports after school year round. From there, I take my time showering, get in my coziest pjs, make a big dinner, and watch a movie. Sometimes I'll go out but, this particular Friday I stayed in, ate Talanti and watched The Grand Budapest Hotel. If you're really into Wes Anderson/indie films I highly recommend it. It's funny, but has serious drama notes. Overall, a wonderful night.
 •//Saturday//•
Saturday morning, I usually laze around but this Saturday I decided to go out and get a latte and just sit and enjoy the day! It was wonderful
I also got these adorable Kate spade note pads for $6 at tj. Maxx!! What a steal.
 •//Sunday//•
It was my friends birthday so went to a burger restaurant and I got Rosemary fries. They were so good and I got to use my adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs wristlet! What did you do this weekend?

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Closely approaching, Valentine's Day is the day to show the people closest to you that you care about them! But, for most, it is a day of 'what's the nicest gift you can get someone at the last minute'. I have to admit, I am guilty of this when buying gifts for friends. Not to fear! Here is my gift guide for those of you who are totally unorganized and dread getting a gift upwards of $200.
